Children

Surrounding these children with a community of love

Welcome to Children's Ministries!

We are so excited to partner with your family as we focus on building relationships and developing our faith in the love and teachings of Jesus Christ.

Sundays are the heart of our ministry, so we are thrilled to offer programming for children as young as two months old through 5th graders.

Caring staff and volunteers create a community of love and forgiveness through engaging curriculum, games, crafts, and music centered on Biblical teachings. If you would like more information about joining us Sunday mornings, please contact Kiara Langford for additional details or questions.

Children’s Ministries believes the spiritual formation of each child is achieved through a partnership with the parents, the community, and the church.

Our programming is designed to nurture your child’s faith development as they journey from infancy through elementary school, with curriculum, activities, and milestones catering to each life stage.

Nursery (Infant–2 years)
The phase where a child grows from a hope into the most spectacular baby in the world into a fabulously busy toddler who just wants to know they are safe and loved.

  • At Home: Introduce Jesus' name and love during play time and prayer time. It's a wonderful time for parents to write a "Family Mission Statement."
  • In Community: Introduce your child to your community through social opportunities, such as park outings or various classes.
  • At Church: Your infants and toddlers will begin to trust others and experience Jesus' love through the faces of our caregivers.
  • Milestone: Baptism (at any age).

Preschool (2 years–PreK)
The phase where with lots of care and attention, a two-year-old blooms into a curious thinker who just wants to know, "Why?"

  • At Home: Select a few storybook Bibles to read together. Use playdough, blocks, and natural elements to bring God's word to life.
  • In Community: Discover all of God's creation through neighborhood walks and teaching care for our world along the way.
  • At Church: Children discover Bible stories and characters during Sunday School and ask their teachers lots of challenging questions like, "If God created everything, then who created God?"
  • Milestone: Sunday School and Children's Offering.

Lower Elementary (Kinder–2nd grade)
The phase where independent learning begins. New activities fill your calendar, and every child wants to know, " What am I capable of?"

  • At Home: Children explore and test, imagine and create, observe, and copy. They are experiencing the faith of their family.
  • In Community: So many "firsts" during this phase as their community grows – independent reading, riding a bike, and having a sleepover.
  • At Church: Genesis, Exodus, and New Testament stories come alive and are made relevant through hands-on activities.
  • Milestone: Children's Church, Vacation Bible School.

Upper Elementary (3rd–5th Grade)
The phase where helping others shines a new light, and they are quietly considering, "How can I change the world?"

  • At Home: Children begin to see themselves as separate individuals. Family dinners and conversations play a key role in how to grow in their faith.
  • In Community: Their eyes are open to more needs in the community, and they want to make a difference.
  • At Church: We creatively dig deep into familiar stories to expand our understanding of God's truths through science, service, relational games, and more!
  • Milestone: Third Grade Bible Presentation, Exploration, and 5th grade Fusion events with Student Ministries.

At St. Luke’s, one of our Inside Out Habits is, “We give ourselves away in service and generosity.”

Equipping you with tools, training, and a community of spiritual growth, we invite you to bless our children through the dedication of your time and gifts, cultivating relationships that reflect God’s great love and grace.
