Reaching people at their moments of need with a word of grace, compassion and mercy.
With humility, we seek to come alongside those in our community who would benefit from an added measure of God’s unconditional love.
Our ministry includes prayer, counsel, support groups and programs leading to spiritual and emotional healing and wholeness. The Pastoral and Care Ministry staff, our trained Care Ministers, and volunteers have a calling to be present and available in times of crisis or distress.
The church equips and empowers lay caregivers—called Care Ministers—to provide high-quality, confidential, Christ-centered care to people who are hurting. If you would like to talk to a pastor or a Care Minister, call the church at 713-622-5710 and we will get you in touch with a member of our clergy.
In addition, we partner with the Nick Finnegan Counseling Center to help those who have clinical needs that might best be addressed by a licensed professional. To schedule an appointment with a professional counselor, call the Nick Finnegan Counseling Center at 713-402-5046.
Become Part of the Care Ministry Team: If you have a heart for praying for others and/or walking alongside others through difficult seasons of life and would love to serve on our team, please contact Rev. Ryan Trushenski.
Our prayer team is a group of individuals who are members of St. Luke’s who have a spiritual gift for intercessory prayer. They have a passion for prayer and pray diligently and specifically for needs within and outside the church, locally and globally.

Hospital, Pre-Surgery, and Hospice Prayer and Visits
Our volunteer Care Ministers and Pastors on staff are called to bring the love of Christ to church members, friends, and family who are hospitalized, preparing for surgery, or are in hospice care in the Houston Metro area. These volunteers are trained and supported by our Pastoral Care clergy and staff, enabling them to walk alongside someone in need. To let us know if you would like to set up a time for a visit in-person or over the phone, contact Roz Strain.
Prayer and Communion in the Chapel
Please join us in the Chapel immediately following the 11 a.m. Sunday worship service each week for a Celebration of Holy Communion and Prayer.
Care Ministers and Pastoral Care:
Care Ministers are trained volunteers from our congregation who offer compassionate care, support and encouragement to our church members and friends who are facing a crisis or are going through a difficult season of life. They provide emotional and spiritual care in times of spiritual or emotional difficulty. They are trained and supported by our Pastoral Care clergy and staff, enabling them to walk alongside someone in need, without judgement and with confidence and compassion. A meeting with a Care Minister is typically for one hour on a routine basis as determined by the Caring Minister and the person seeking care. All sessions are confidential and free. For more information, contact Rev. Ryan Trushenski.
Professional Counseling - Nick Finnegan Counseling Center:
St. Luke’s is proud to partner with The Nick Finnegan Counseling Center, (NFCC) and we often make referrals to their staff for ongoing clinical care and assistance. NFCC is a safe place to find healing and wholeness in an affordable clinical counseling setting. Their staff of Licensed Professional Counselors are prepared to assist their clients in various aspects of mental health care, recovery and support. NFCC can be reached at 713-402-5046. For immediate assistance with crisis situations, we encourage our congregation members and friends to dial 988 for immediate access to the National Suicide and Crisis Hotline where someone is always available to offer crisis intervention support.
