St Lukes sandwich o rama Kids Meals 2

Keeping it simple

1 in 4 preschool-aged children in Houston are unsure of their next meal. Overwhelmed by the need? Every dollar matters; every simple act of love helps us move a little closer to our God-sized dream of being a part of ending childhood hunger in our city. With your gift, we hope to make almost 37,000 sandwiches for Kids Meals this year!
Choosing with dignity at CCSC pantry 1

Making nutrition more accessible

Our Community Partner, Christian Community Service Center (CCSC), is preparing to open a third food pantry in the East End of Houston, an area that ranks at the highest level of need due to socioeconomic and household hardships along with poor food access. CCSC’s new pantry will enable clients to shop for fresh produce, meat, and dairy items. Your gift will help us contribute toward a refrigerated box truck for CCSC, opening up the opportunity for them to pick up fresh donated items from area grocery stores and get them safely to the new pantry and into the hands of clients.

Sharing a meal

From 2024 to 2025, our average participation in Wednesday Night Fellowship dinner on our Gethsemane campus grew 67%! Why? There is a clear need for a reliable meal: 44% of households in the Greater Sharpstown area are food insecure. WNF growth is also attributed to young people coming over from The Garden or from one of the 25 schools in a 2-mile radius of our Gethsemane campus after sports practices or other extracurricular activities, hungry for fuel and belonging. Your gift will help us scale to match this growth by supplementing the rising costs for our generous volunteers who love to cook or cater so we can pull up even more seats to the table, reflecting Jesus’ life and practice of connecting with people over a meal.

I was hungry and you gave me food...

I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you gave me clothing, I was sick and you took care of me, I was in prison and you visited me... Truly I tell you, just as you did it to one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did it to me.-Matthew 25:35-40
