A PERSONAL PRAYER

God,

Sometimes, when I am afraid or anxious, someone speaks into my life a word of faith, a word of confidence, a word of trusting in your love. I know you send them to me, whether they know it or not. Thank you so much for those words of faith, reminding me of that peace that transcends understanding that allays my fears.

Sometimes, when I am paralyzed by my fears, you send someone who just steps in and begins to take action, and I am drawn into their momentum, the work of your Holy Spirit that pulls me along in their current of faith. What a gift they are.

Sometimes, when I become consumed with figuring out what the future holds, you speak in that still small voice within me reminding me that you hold the future, so why should I be afraid.

God, I know there are others all around who struggle with fear. Sometimes, they know what they are afraid of. Sometimes, it is just anxiety that seems to have no object. I pray that you would give me that word or deed of faith that would help them to put their trust in you and know that you will not fail them.

I trust you, God, because I am absolutely convinced of your love for me, and perfect love casts out all fear. (1 John 4:18) Amen.
