God of love,
I am committed today to being a good steward of the day you have given me. I know that there will be distractions in the hours ahead that seek to draw me away from your agenda for me.
There will be flashes of anger that will captivate me for a time, but I will push through them to be your minister of reconciliation.
There will be moments of sadness that well up inside me, but I will remember that Jesus wept, and own the sorrow as material for compassion for others.
There will be fears and anxieties that loom, but I will absorb your words “be strong and of good courage,” and be reminded that perfect love casts out all fear.
There will be all sorts of voices today baiting me to turn away from using this day as you would have me use it. I pray that you would speak loudly enough into my heart that I choose to use the time and energy you have given me for your purposes.
This day is your day. I offer it to you, as you have offered it to me. Amen.
